FAQ

Below we have provided answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding our services at Kevel Marine. If you have a question that is not listed here, please call us at 516.541.8819 or contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

How can I get started with my project?

The first thing to do is to give us a call or complete our contact form. We’ll get things started by scheduling an appointment to visit your property and meet with you to discuss your project. We may suggest or recommend various materials and provide you with a detailed estimate. From there we can handle everything from project drawings, landscape and environmental surveys, permit applications and expediting, plumbing, electrical, boat lifts, etc.

In short, just give us a call – we’re happy to help.

How long of a waiting period is involved?

We begin most projects within one to three months of the initial planning discussion, with an average lead time of two months. Our permit expeditors can help to speed the process.

How long does the entire process take?

Obtaining surveys and permits usually take a few weeks prior to construction. Obviously every project is different in its complexity, but construction is usually completed within two to three weeks. Our estimate will include a projected completion date.

Is financing available?

Financing may be available through various banks and financial institutions and may even qualify for tax breaks on capital improvements (consult with your tax professional on tax incentives).  We can help by providing you with a detailed estimate that may need to be included with a loan application.

How much of my yard will be excavated during the process?

Under most circumstances, approximately 20 feet of your yard will need to be excavated in order to build a bulkhead structure. In addition to our barge and crane, we may also use a BobCat® Compact Track Loader with a narrow width that will easily get into the backyards of most homes.

We will take the utmost care to attempt to preserve as much of your existing landscape as possible.

Are your services only available during the summer?

No – we work all year long, even on certain new construction projects! In addition, we offer customers year-round services to ensure that your structures remain strong and up-to-date during the winter months. Ongoing maintenance throughout the year will help to reduce damage and enable your marine structure to last for many years.
